Thoughts & Inspiration

Our travel started on Saturday at 12pm through last night at 9:30pm. During that time, I asked God to give me something to write about, something I could share about my travel experience. When leaving Nicaragua, we flew to El Salvador for a 2 hour layover for our connecting flight to Colombia. Once in Colombia, we took a bus to our next ministry. As we were on our bus ride to Medellin, Colombia to our next ministry these are the thoughts I jotted down in my notes app on my phone. These are the things God reminded me of as we were still traveling Sunday evening.

-I’m in the anxious prayers on your flight
-I’m in the distant lightning storm you see out your plane window
-I’m in the midst of you having fried Oreos and ice cream with some of your squad mates at an airport for a connecting flight
-I’m in the phone calls with your fam at 4 in the morning because you have access to wifi for a bit
-I’m in the hilarious conversations with your teammates at 5am in the airport when you’ve all been awake for WAY too long
-I’m in the excitement of finding your favorite coffee shop for the first time abroad
-I’m in the leadership team as they try to figure out why our shuttle is late to take us from the airport to the bus station
-I’m in the 15 minutes of sleep you were able to get waiting for the bus at the bus station in the country you’ve finally arrived at for your next month
-I’m in the 15 hour bus ride across the country to your next ministry location
-I’m in the in the trivia questions one of your squad mates made for you to play with your team as you go about your travel day
-I’m in all your thoughts as your travel
-I’m in the old man’s laughter a few seats behind you
-I’m in the little boy’s smile a few rows in front of you whose playing with the armrest and eating his snack
-I’m in the same bus ride when your bus breaks down and you have to wait on another one to come get you
-I’m in the moments when you have to choose the kind of attitude you want to have while traveling
-I’m in the fact that you GET to be doing this

He is in all things. In the big things and yes, even in the small things. In you and in others around you. I encourage you to ask God to reveal himself to you even amongst your daily routines, daily tasks, simple or hard conversations, in others, or the drive to wherever you are going. He is in it all. Sometimes we just have to be reminded to seek him in all things and let him reveal himself to us. I’d love to hear how God is revealing himself to you lately.

  5. Thank you so much for sharing this to us Caroline. It brought a smile to my face. I hope you have fun in Columbia, and can’t wait to hear about all the stories in the next post in a month.

  6. Good Morning Caroline, Reading this brings back so many memories of the same temptations we encountered on the trips. It will really give many opportunities to check the fruits of the Spirit that your team are showing. The expressions on the face of the team will give others a clear understanding of whos you are. In most of the cases while traveling patience is one of the fruits that needs to be on display and understand that God is in control, In reading this sounds like His fruit is really growing in you. God is revealing Himself in me by the question do you want to take up your cross and follow Me. As I continue to grow in the knowledge of the Lord in this old age, it is being revealed to me what that means as I continue to die to self day by day. That is why He says there will be few. Have a great stay in Colombia and be safe out there!

  7. I am always so glad to see an update from you. I love hearing about you and your team and the work you are doing. I am still praying for you and I know God will take care of you as you are doing his work. Miss you lots!

  8. Sweet Caroline!
So happy to hear you are seeing God. That’s the best we all can hope for as we travel through our days. The trick is keeping our eyes open for HIS presence. It’s amazing what can happen when you look and listen. Thank you for reminding us of what matters most. Keep up the good work friend! You are not alone. Love and miss you!

  9. It is so wonderful to read what you are doing and experiencing. I anxiously await the next report of how God is working through you and your team to change lives and circumstances in Columbia. I’m keeping you all in my prayers.

  10. I loved hearing about the ways God was in your trip. Great reminder! ” He is in it all. Sometimes we just have to be reminded to seek him in all things and let him reveal himself to us. I’d love to hear how God is revealing himself to you lately.” Amen! God revealed himself in the beautiful fall colors, warm sunshine, 75 degree day today. And in the movie we just saw ‘Ends of the Earth’ – a documentary about Missionary Aviation Fellowship that flies to very remote areas of the world.
